Iowa's Living Roadways (ILR)
Envisioning a more beautiful community? Need to project or enhance
natural areas? Looking for community entryway planning, design &
beautification? Is your community facing rapid or declining
development & growth?
The
ILR Community Visioning Program may be able to assist you in addressing
these issues. The Visioning Program provides planning service to Iowa
communities with populations of less than 10,000. The program is
designed to empower local leaders through a planning process that results in
an enhancement plan reflecting the community's values.
Elements of the plan include:
-
Assess
local natural, cultural & aesthetic landscape resources
-
Identify and prioritize community needs
-
Develop a conceptual landscape plan
-
Determine potential funding sources for the proposed projects
-
Develop a step-by-step plan for implementing the plan as resources become
available
-
Initiate the First Phase of landscape development
Community Visioning is NOT A GRANT PROGRAM for monetary awards.
Since
its inception in 1996, the program has worked with communities on the
following concepts

Creation of pocket parks in empty downtown lots
-
Beautification of community entryways through landscaping, signage &
