A land use map helps people involved in city government determine what parts of town will be utilized for residential, industrial, and commercial construction.  If you could look at a land use map of your town it would show how certain areas are set aside for homes, schools, parks, factories, airports, roads, and shopping centers. The land use map is a great planning tool and helps cities avoid problems that can occur when development is not planned.
