Restricted Residential Ordinance

Simplicity.  For small cities, the Iowa Code (414.24) allows for the adoption of restricted residence zoning.  Advantages to this ordinance are that it is much less complex and easier to administer than a conventional zoning ordinance.  Under this approach, the city council establishes areas of the community called "restricted residence districts".  Rules for land uses allowed in the districts are established through the council by ordinance.  Normal uses include only houses, schools, churches, and similar structures.
